Frequently Asked Questions

Find the answers to frequently asked questions about your Shell Vacations Club membership below. You can also view the Glossary for terms and definitions related to your Shell Vacations Club membership.

What is the best way to use my points?
The best way to use your points is to book vacations! The further you book in advance to your check-in date, the more availability you’ll have to choose from. If you can’t travel, the best use of your points is to consider extending them by depositing them into RCI and gaining at least 2 additional years to travel. See our Reservations FAQ page for more information on how to book a vacation.

How do Points work?
Shell Vacations Club assigns a Point value to each unit in the club. The numbers of Points assigned is based on Shell Vacations’ estimate of the demand for use of that accommodation. In making that estimate, Shell Vacations Club considers things such as the location of the resort, the dates and the size of the unit. For more information, take a look at the Points Charts for our resorts.

How many Points do I have?
Your membership agreement states the number of Points you will receive for each Use Year. At the beginning of each Use Year, the Club will add into your Points Account the number of Points stated in your membership agreement. To see your current Points balance, click on Member Balances on the left navigation bar of the Members Only page

How many Points do I need to make a reservation?
The number of Points required to reserve accommodation is called the “Point value”. Refer to the Points Charts to view the Point values for each use night of every Club unit. Shell Vacations can change the point values from time to time if demand is higher than estimated.

What happens if I don’t use my Points?
Points are deposited in your account for use in a specific Use Year. If you do not use them by the end of that Use Year, bank them or deposit them into RCI, then they will expire. Refer to the banking quick reference guide for more information on banking deadlines.

How do I use Banked Points?
Banked points must be used by the end of the next Use Year during the Club Reservation Period or Late Opportunity Reservation Period. Banked Points cannot be borrowed back into the current Use Year and banking is a final transaction.

What is a Use Year?
Points are deposited in your Points Account for use in a specific year. We use the term “Use Year” to refer to the one-year period during which a member must use their Points.

Does the Use Year change if I sell my membership?
No. If you sell your membership to someone else who is not a member of your home club, the Use Year for that membership will remain the same for the new member. For example, if your Use Year begin date is August 1, then the new member’s Use Year will still begin on August 1, even if he or she bought the membership from you in a different month.

What is the reservation cancellation policy?
Plans can change and luckily, Shell Vacations Club has a flexible cancellation policy. If your reservation is cancelled 61 days or more prior to the check-in date, 100% of the points used for the reservation will be returned to the Use Year from which they came.
For a reservation cancelled 60-14 days prior to check-in, 80% of the points used are returned.
For a reservation cancelled 13 days or less prior to check-in, no points are returned.
To see more details, view our Cancellation Policy page.

Can I use points for car rentals, airline tickets or cruises?
Yes! The SVC Travel department includes options using Points to book SVC by Land, SVC by Air and SVC at Sea. Members can use points to book car rentals, roundtrip tickets for major airlines and most major cruise lines. Bookings can be made by calling our dedicated SVC Travel agents at 877-743-5510 option 2.

How much are housekeeping fees?
Every Member’s Association Fee covers a minimum of two housekeeping services per year at Shell Vacations Club resorts, and more, depending on the number of Points you own. These housekeeping services are used for cleaning the unit upon check-out. If additional fees are required, please view the Club Transaction Fees page for more information.

What is the pet policy?
Service animals that are trained to work or perform tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability are welcome at all Wyndham Destinations Managed locations. All other animals, trained or untrained, whose sole function is to provide emotional support, therapy, comfort, or companionship do not qualify as service animals and are not permitted at Wyndham Destinations Managed locations.

What is Club Wyndham Prefer?
Club Wyndham Prefer is an optional program that allows Shell Vacations Club – West and Hawaii members to join Club Wyndham Plus. Shell Vacations Club will remain intact, and member benefits are not being reduced or eliminated. For more information and to see the benefits of being a Club Wyndham Plus member, please visit clubwyndham.com/prefer.
